why my punishment for calling out of work is DECREASING my hours and no ot?
i work as a detailer at {insert car rental company here} and i’m the ONLY opener. i admit, it’s been a rough year and w 3 deaths almost back to back, i’ve called out a lot. plus, my husband and i are pcs-ing in 7 days and there were stuff i needed to do/help him do.
my schedule was sun-thurs, 6a-230p. i usually come in at 530a, not take lunch and leave at 230p or a little bit later. when my attendance started declining for things listed above, my manager cut my hours to 32. sun-wed, same hours.
recently, i’ve been trying to get ot as i’m gonna be out of work for a month and we have been extremely short staffed and behind on returns and outgoings w the cars.
last wednesday, she asked me if i could come in on thursday (my day off) at 7a to help in the bay as, again, i am the only opener. i overslept at woke up at 12p. i texted her and she said, a direct quote from a text: “At this point we will not be able to have you work anything except your schedule. Please stick to the 6a-230p with a 30 minute lunch. You may clock on up to 15 minutes early but that is all.” i offered to still come in and she refused. she has now blocked all my ot and have overridden my dm’s (who is an absolute saint) approval for my ot. she fails to recognize that i work 9h a day before the cut and i did a 12h when they desperately needed help.
i’m confused and annoyed. i’m literally here for another 5 working days.. so petty to block my ot.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss further.
