I had a recruiter for a construction company reach out to me about a position. I straight up said location and compensation are my two motivators, here’s my resume and project portfolio. We talked on the phone and I outlined the annual amount I’d need at minimum to consider moving.
He passes my info along to the company, they send me the job description. I inform them it’s well within my skill set (see resume and portfolio), what’s your compensation budget? If we’re close I’ll do an interview.
He responded that it “depends on the abilities of the candidate.”
Sorry, pass. I’m not taking time out of my day for a second interview for a job further away if you can’t give me a ballpark number.
