Can’t find anything in budget? Take on more work!

Mini rant here: started work at a school in February. I've been looking for housing and on waiting lists for assistance since September. I asked for permission to stay (rent a room) on campus since I haven't found anything yet, and was asked what my plans were once their limit of 3 months was up so I was honest: go back to the shelter in Worcester or live in my car. She then asked if I'd be interested in a room that's $800 (before utilities) and I told her it was out of budget. She sent the housing resources again (everything is over 1k)and I again said it was out of my budget, expanding to be clear exactly what I could afford (max of $700 including utilities and even that would be tight). Her solution? Take on substitute work in the dorms (school for the Deaf so they have residential students) because the income would help. As if that's the only solution to be able to afford to live. Not pay us a decent wage. Make us work more. I didn't even bother to tell her I'm already working 2 other jobs just to get by.
