Can’t work from home, even if I don’t feel safe at the office

This was before the pandemic. I worked for this company for few years and I was in management. I was treated okay-ish, at least in terms of pay, but entry level employees were treated like shit. I tried to help but I actually had nothing to say. I had to stay at the office until 5PM even though everyone would leave earlier. The office was at the end of the street and had huge windows. It was super clear that I was alone in the building. After noticing a random car in the parking lot just sitting there, I reached out to my boss (the owner of the company, also a woman) and told her I am not feeling safe and I would like to end my workdays from home. The nature of work did not require me to be in the office. There were no customers or anything like…

There were no customers or anything like that. My supervisor said that the area is very safe and if I see suspicious car, I should just note the plates. My workday ends at 5 and I should be at the office until 5. This was ridiculous since I can’t see the plates being inside the building with lights on and the car being outside in the dark…. Anyway, couple of weeks later it happened again. This random car was on the parking lot, clearly somebody was looking at me. I called my boss, she completely dismissed my concerns again. I was so disappointed.

Literally 3 weeks later the pandemic started and somehow all my work was done from home and it was fine. I quit soon after, found a better job with better pay and no concerns for my safety.
