I really hate how this sub blames the economic issues on “capitalism” and thinks “socialism” is the answer.
It's neither.
It's greed. It's oligarchism. It's elitism. It's monopolism.
It's a lack of laws in either economic system to prevent these things from developing.
You're still playing right into their game by missing the point.
Profit is not necessarily a bad thing. Obscene profit & hoarding wealth is a bad thing.
If no profit was ever made, growth could never occur.
If profit never occurred, the world would collapse under the population growth because no economy type (capitalism or socialist) would be able to support it.
More people = more food.
That means more food production.
More people = more housing.
That means more land development/construction, etc.
More people = more fresh water.
That requires expanding water treatment capabilites.
More people = more disease.
They requires advancing medicine.
More people = more waste.
That requires more waste disposal, more sanitation processing.
Growth requires the means to support it.
The issue isn't the type of economy. It's the people running it.
Educate yourselves.
