I have a friend who recently showed me some paychecks because she had questions about what her employer was doing. I don't really understand the ins and outs of the CARES retention act so I thought I'd turn to here. She has a YTD pay line that says “CARES Retention Emp” and looks like she's been slowly getting money. However, the number only shows under the YTD column and it never appears under current or shows up in her actual paycheck. I just don't understand how it can go up for YTD if it's never showing up on her paycheck or under the current column. Just trying to figure what exactly the CARES act was for in this regard and whether or not the boss is just pocketing money
