My boss is tough often irrational and won't let anyone talk or have an opinion in his presence. He criticizes my lack of compassion in stressful situations. I don't show compassion when it will distract from the point. He criticizes me for being closed off actually I have to work from 7-7 just to make his office function. He saysletme help. Meaning I'll tell you how to do it which wastes my time. It's a losing situation for me and I honestly feel trapped, alone, wishing I was respected, feeling like a joke. I don't even know how to get help to find a new place to work to support myself. Meaning I honestly don't know programs, will absolutely not use temp agencies, career coaching can't even afford. Multiple years building a company for a guy from less than 800,000 – 2,000,000. I hate being told I'm smart and all…

Written up for having Covid
Back in January I left work early because I felt sick. Incidentally, so did my husband. We were both off for two weeks with positive confirmed Covid feeling miserable. We were also constantly in touch with our employee health departments who actually would not approve us to return to work until we tested negative. When we did return, I thought everything was fine. Today I get told I’m being written up for getting three attendance points (leaving early one day, calling off for one week, and then the next). I’m so done with this job. I don’t even know what to do.
No Compassion at a Preschool
The preschool I work at has a rule where if you don't work the day before or the day after a holiday break, you don't get paid for the break. Well, last week was spring break, and my coworker had a family emergency today so she couldn't come in for her 8-5 shift. Which means she isn't going to get paid for last week at all. She's a single mom of two and she doesn't get any money from the baby daddy. She's always helping out with whatever the front needs her to do, and she's a very strong and reliable employee. I am so mad on her behalf for this. I can't believe they would be so heartless and not give her an exception. It's not like she's coming back from a vacation in the Bahamas; I literally saw her in the office this morning trying to explain the…
*edited, sorry. I noticed on my timesheet today that the hours I had worked over the past two weeks were just reduced by about an hour a week. I asked my boss why and he told me that it was due to the fact that he marked the time that exceeded our paid 30 min lunch as “unpaid” and subtracted that from our overall hours that week, which I guess makes sense. I get why this was done, but it still doesn’t sit right with me. Can anyone chime in on this? I work part time so I went from making 900+ this check to about 850 – 875. If it’s important, this is the first time I’ve seen this done.
Old job tracking bathroom breaks.
I recently left a corporate job that was incredibly toxic in many ways. I put in my 2 week notice, but they told me I was “terminated” the same day but they would pay me for my last 2 weeks. Guess what, my final check never came, shocker! So I called HR and they told me to come in to their office and they would give me a check instead of direct deposit. As I was waiting for 45 minutes at a table in their conference room I noticed a posted note on my employee file that said “calculate 5 breaks per day”. I was a salary employee who never even left the office for lunch, and I never really took “breaks”? When I asked the HR representative what that meant, she told me that she was also leaving this job, and that my employer was tracking all employee bathroom…
Do people like this exist?
I work in a group home for adults with intellectual disabilities. The company I work for is shit, not gonna lie. I've been here since May 1st of 2020 and have carried a good portion on my back. We went without a house manager for months. So obviously, not the best workplace. Well today we got an email from our house manager that angered all of us and caused 10 employees, myself included, to put in our two weeks. There is 12 workers in this house so staffing just took a major hit. They're lowering our pay in an economy where the cost of everything going up. Our base pay was 15.95. Got told it was being lowered to 15. The higher ups told my boss to not even tell us. My question comes when they say it will be applied to this coming check. So basically the last two…
