I’m really frustrated

Excuse the formatting, I’m on mobile and I’m just typing the first thing that comes to mind. Nowadays,I don’t really care for work but seeing that that’s where we are in the world if I have to work I’d rather do something I know I’m good at. We need to do something to get by( even though getting by shouldn’t even be a thing. We should be able to live without worrying about being homeless and starving.) I thought that the ideal position would be (hear me out) in a cubicle for a couple of hours a day being left alone to work on whatever and then go home. This was before life was the way it is now. Back in 2014 I just wanted an office job. I was fresh out of school so I was more than accustomed to the “sit for 8 hours a day and go…

How much Job history is really needed when applying for a job?

I have had to fill out two job applications now asking for 20+ years of work history. They want a name and contact information of a supervisor for the last 10 years. I actually hope they call Jeff from my Janitorial job in 2012 and ask him about me. Jeff doesn’t remember me, Jeff didn’t know my name when I worked there. Jeff don’t give a shit.

Red Flag in job posting

Just saw this in a job posting I was looking at: “Thrive off being in a very fast-moving environment and being super busy yet being a part of a company where you just may find your “2nd family”! ” What do you guys think? Total red flag right?

My first walk out ( an old story)

This is an old story from my first job… Way back at the start of my career fresh out of high school. Keep in mind it was the first job I ever walked out on despite being raised to always give and work your 2 weeks notice. It was at a large office supply store, early 2010's. I joined under one gm, she was great, I made just over minimum and was going to be apart of their tech team after training, pay raise and new stuff, etc….I already had some certs from high school, would have been a nice college job. Well as it turns out she was too good, she got pulled to a struggling store and we got john….John was fresh out of corporate training….John brought over his chosen cashier (his secret gf) and John didn't approve of college. He ran the place into the ground, hired…

What kind of work do you do? What kind of benefits/perks are offered at your job? What does your job offer that other jobs don’t? I often see people on this subreddit talking about how they actually like their jobs, now is your time to shine. Tell us about it.

Gas or Work?

So we go to work to make money to pay bills and buy things, including gas, which we then use to turn around and do it all over again. Work, little money, bills/gas, work, little money, bills/gas…….what happens when those of us who can't work remotely can't afford gas anymore? It's now $40 to fill up my teeny tiny car…which I have to do every 3.5 days. That's about $80/week so $160/pay period…that's more than my utility bills combined….just to be able to pay my utility bills.
