As the title suggests, my boss at work suggested that I am too much of a reclusive type, and I keep to myself too much which can make people feel isolated from me. As such, one of my 'target improvements' is that I have been asked to engage in more idle chatter with people about things I don't care about and aren't work related to satisfy my colleague's need for social interaction. For reference, my team is about 14 people large, I am the youngest at 28, the next youngest being 35. I work in a social service position at a local council. I have known my colleagues for 2+ years and they all know that although I'm a grouch, I'm always happy to help and try my best to do what I can for them. I do engage with my colleagues in social discussions I'm interested in, but I…

I worked my ass off for this man, essentially running his entire book of business for him. For Christmas he got me a $25 AMC gift card. The closest AMC theater is 1.5hrs away in another state. That pissed me off and made me start looking for other jobs. I genuinely cared about my job and the account, so I waited to accept a job offer until I had trained someone else to do my job. When the time came, I met him in his office and told him that I had accepted another job and that I was putting in my notice, but to not worry because I have someone already trained. When I told him that I had accepted a position with another company in our field but would not be doing the same thing so it wouldn’t violate my non-compete, he called our chief legal office on…

Is Glassdoor useless now?
At least when it comes to bigger companies. I noticed a lot of big corporations that had mediocre ratings suddenly went up massively. Either they removed all the negative ratings or spammed it with fake positive reviews that don't actually say anything about the company itself and can reused anywhere
Today I had the first bad encounter with my new boss. Two months ago we started a very interesting project of data analysis and I would be working in it with my boss guidance. All he did was to point me to the variables I needed to correct. All the variables I analyzed and corrected improved significantly, but turns out the variables we touched have not much impact on the overall result. So now my boss is mad at me and told me I failed on improving the global result. First, I tried to explain him that all I did has a good result, but the mistake was in the selection of the variables. Then my boss started telling “stop making excuses” so finally I decided to just shut up and wait till he stops. A minute later, all the team receive a email by him telling this project failed,…
