I’m a college student but have been working with this popular clothing retailer for four years now. I have been in a management position for over two years. I have barely seen a reasonable raise. I make a few more dollars an hour than I did when I started out at minimum wage, but it’s still not enough to cover cost of living. Many managers work 2 jobs and make more at the other one. Three of the five managers are making under what most retailers give starting out to cashiers. It’s sucks because my job is easy going some days and others it’s a lot to handle. I train new hires, sell like I’m on commission, do business side stuff, attend conference calls on my days off, I have a 45 minute round trip on days with no traffic. I tried to transfer to a closer location but I…

Taking advantage of teenagers
So let me start this out by saying i was 16, from the UK and had just passed my GCSE exams with pretty stellar grades, (mainly A grades, and a couple of B’s). I applied for a job working as a maths and english tutor, which was advertised at £10 an hour, and when i turned up for the interview, as i was under 18 they offered me £5.45. Me being a stupid kid, with no real work experience, didn’t understand how much bullshit this was. (Apologies for any poor formatting, i am on mobile, at work, writing this from the can) We were expected to tutor zones of 6 kids, for 1 hour, for £5.45. This works out at £0.90 per kid per hour, not to mention we were expected to take notes on all of their sessions, write down things for them to work on, feed back to…
Looking to quit my job in NJ, any way I can collect unemployment? Is there a wait period for quitting or can I “leave for another job” then get laid off from new job and collect on previous jobs higher wages
Am I wasting my time?
I've recently received the first part of my bo is, and the HR lady handed me a paper showing me when to expect the next half, which is said to be arriving next month, am I wasting my time waiting for this bonus, despite already planning on quitting, after getting it?
So from past two years I have changed 4 startups (two got closed due to pandemic ) and one wasn't paying me a dime (yes I was working for free!), and always wanted to work for a big corporation a week back I got opportunity to work in the biggest IT company in the world, but it has 6 days a week working culture, in desperation, I joined, but now I regret it, as I miss my long weekend. Am I too privileged? Can I really afford another company on my résumé? Will it be a mistake to leave such a great opportunity?
Warehouse Job Fired My Wife
My wife and I both work in a warehouse but stay away from one another unless, for instance, she needed to lift a bag that was too heavy for her. My wife lost her contacts and so, could not fill her position in the warehouse until she got replacement contacts. After speaking to the HR of our building, she was put on COF and given a paper to have a doctor fill out. Now the detail that they left out when they fired her was that she was supposed bring it in before she was able to return to work. Even though our lead HR said to turn it in when she came back to work. Now the problem. She can’t make money for rent, food, or gas money. They want the form in on Friday but we don’t have the money for contacts after they called us into work…
Are these labor policies normal?
My mom is 58 and is working for a non profit making $15 an hour. She has been working there for 7 months. We’ve had a vacation planned for several months now and she told me she would have enough vacation days stored up for it. In her 7 months there working full time, she hasn’t missed a single day except when she had COVID and missed 5 days. She sent me a text today saying that her boss counted the 5 COVID days as vacation time and that she doesn’t have enough for our trip. And her boss won’t even let her take UNPAID time off that week. TLDR: My 58 year old mother has worked 7 straight months without a real day off and her boss won’t even let her take unpaid time off with a month’s notice
Flaky phone interviews are the worst!
I recently applied for an IT job currently running a 'neurodiversity hiring program' and got an e-mail asking me to schedule an appointment for today. Yet when the time for the interview arrives? …. …. …. …. Nothing! I check my e-mail. Nothing! I check my calendar. The interview is still posted YET as I hover the icon I get a message telling me it has been cancelled. Cancelled! No prior notice via e-mail or text. I would be surprised by such tactless disregard for potential hires, but sadly this is not the first time a company has called off an interview at the last minute without explanation. Hey HR. How am I supposed to take your company seriously when you flake out of a meeting like this? If an interviewee like myself were to do this it could potentially harm our reputations and yet HR professionals can do this…
I work in a very toxic company. The CEO is sexually harassing the female employees and generally is a huge mysogynist. He also gets really angry really fast and screams and insults the employees. Now he opend 6 positions. All assistant Jobs have to be young woman. So how do I discreetly tell them to avoid this company without the CEO noticing. I have a new Job in prospect but only in a few months so I need this Job until then. Sorry for my english, it is not my first language.
