Thanks to this subreddit I am moving on

Over the Christmas break I had a decent amount of time off to reflect and evaluate my situation, based off of reading many of the sh*t show horror stories and experiences people have had to deal with in their working lives on here. I identified with so many different situations and decided to browse. I went to the first reputable company in my industry local to where i live in the UK and coincidently found a job posting for my current role advertised (coincidence or fate?). Anyway.. today I got the official offer, with a £38k increase from my original £32k salary, plus the opportunity to earn a further £20k per annum in overtime as well as yearly pay rises and a profit related bonus. From £32k to potentially £90k! Thank you posters for r/antiwork for making me realise that if you are unhappy – do something about it!

Resigning so that promotion is effective

First off, forgive me if this is the wrong sub for asking this advice. I just got promoted but I want to leave the company. The promotion isn’t effective until March 1st. I’d like to resign and have my last day be March 1st. If my last day is the same day the promotion is effective, can I legally claim the new title from the promotion on my resume? Or will that fail a background check at some future job if someone calls the company?

What do you do for work and how much do you make?

Do you like your job? How did you get into that field of work? What would you have done differently? I have my degree in science and I keep going back to customer service jobs because I make more money, and they’re usually much more enjoyable work environments. In customer service, there is comraderie among my coworkers and I, the worst experiences are typically with asshole customers. In my previous lab jobs, it is incredibly boring, I don’t get any social interaction with anyone, and my coworkers were difficult to be around most of the time or we were basically strangers. If it’s not a lab doing research, it feels a lot more like a production environment and the work feels meaningless and monotonous. I don’t want to be a server forever, but I don’t know what to do since every other entry level job will be a pay cut…

Your Mental Health > Your Job

In late 2016/2017 I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. Over the years, with the help of medication and therapy, I have learned how to live with it and my anxiety attacks have gone down. This morning I called out of work because I had a rare really bad attack due to the fact that today is the first day my work is not requiring workers to wear masks (Amazon Fresh in Orange County). My shift started at 6 am and I was lying awake in bed at 4:30 am, stressing out about calling out because policy states you have to do so 2 hours before your shift. This only made my anxiety worse and another half an hour went by before I finally decided that it wasn’t worth it and called the manager on duty. I know I’m not required to give a reason but because it wasn’t…

Every single thing shouldn’t be about money

Every single thing in life shouldn't be about money. I don't care about “the fact we all need money in this world”.. it just shouldn't be that way. Every single thing shouldn't cost money. Idc if someone “put their labor into it” (where a lot more things now are being done by robots.. yeah there's someone programming and running maintenance on them but come on.. doesn't mean every single person with their name or company attached needs to get paid or make money from something). Yeah you could say “hOw wOuLd pEoPlE gEt CoMpEnSaTeD??” There's more ways to compensate someone than a man made dollar. Period. You could literally compensate anyone for anything with anything. If that other person quits focusing on a man made dollar too then yeah it could work. Not to mention are people really unable just to do anything out of coexistence? Helping people? Humility? Mutual…

Quitting a job I just started!

Long story short: I work as an ER unit secretary. The Recruiter must have been severely misinformed and passed that misinformation down to me. When the base rate was this low I just knew I shouldve said no thanks… But recruiter says oh no you get a shift differential for working 12 hour days and more on weekends. SURPRISE!!! Got my first paycheck today and not only is it missing the 2G sign on bonus (another lie) said paycheck is literally not even enough to pay my rent!!!! (I live in Florida… housing is super expensive here) I ask HR wtf wheres this shift differential and my 2000 signing bonus and they look at me like I have 2 heads!! I told my unit manager that if HR doesnt make this right I will quit and will have zero bad feelings because Im held to a certain standard that HR…

“Our employees donated over $70k last year!!”

Yet we’re a multimillion dollar corporation. Uh. Okay. Why doesn’t the company donate? “We’re a team of rockstars!” Right.

A previous boss of mine threatened to call the police to come do a wellness check on me. I had called out sick the night before and had told him I wouldn’t be coming in the next day.

He was a prick and was using it as a scare tactic because I was sick and wasn’t answering my phone the next morning (even though I had spoken to him the night before, stating I wouldn’t be in).
