Doing my part.
So my boss said we should go celebrate a good year with a company dinner. At the end he goes “so this technically isn’t on the company dime so I’m going to need you all to individually pay for your meals. What the hell? I wouldn’t be here if I knew I would have to pay to celebrate “the company’s success”.
How did this become normalised?!
In November I got promoted with no interview. Seemed like a huge red flag, but the pay was $106k, and in Jan was bumped up to $110k. A week after Thanksgiving, I said, “I have time off planned. Hope that won't be a problem.” 2.5 weeks later I'm kinda chilling over New Year's, and then they start showing me stuff. The Director calls me and says, “Fomention, we need someone on my staff, and I'd like you to join.” Me: It'd be an honor. HIM: That's terrific. Me: I have some time off planned. Hope that won't be a problem. HIM: No, no. Take the time off. Start date is beginning of March. I'm thinking 2-3 weeks in April.
