I really need to vent about this as it's been keeping me up at night. I've seen through this companies bullshit for years but this really takes the cake. A bit of a back story. We are hourly employees in an office management setting. When covid hit, most of us got furloughed but over time they brought us back as “essential workers” because we sort mail for different companies (insert eye roll here). They kept us on a skeleton crew where only one employee from our company is running and managing each office space. it's exhausting but we're paid over minimum wage and with the uncertainty of the world/covid, most of us powered through. We are expected to work 8:30-5 mon-fri with a mandatory unpaid 30min lunch. This has been difficult as it is since we work alone and are often busy and don't have the opportunities to take a…
I’d love to for others to share their stories about how this insane reality has impacted you personally. This sub should be a space not just for calling out the evil-doers, but to hear each other’s struggles and commiserate
I keep seeing this on the news. “We shot for over 12 hours with over 30 volunteers!” Yes. Volunteers… they couldn't even use actual workers. Pathetic. “The culture is great!” …is it though? “When I was growing up I always wanted to work for Coke Cola!!!!” Really? Like no, really? It's like all the fun is gone and everyday they just squeeze harder.
Hey guys, long time listener first time caller. So, for just a touch of context/backstory. I'm 30/m diagnosed with ADHD/Autism and keeping a job has never been easy for me. I've been working 6-12 months at random retail jobs for the last 2 years and quitting when jobs stop working out for me. This past Fall I was applying places for a new gig and found a local tabletop gaming store hiring (I love that shit), so obviously I applied. I was scheduled for an interview almost immediately, interview was kinda messy and I had to take a pay cut but small businesses you know? I start at the job a week or so later and think I've finally found a job I can be myself at and grow. I was so happy I had finally found somewhere I could be happy. Until my third day when the owner got…
Unpaid internships
Hello! I hate to be that person but do any of the companies you work with need an unpaid virtual student intern? I'm definitely anti-capitalist and know unpaid internships are exploitative but we need to get one for our resumes before summer :/
Hi redditors, i am not disclosing anything due to the contract, this post is not about perks or disadvantages but more on mental health and burn out. As you can see from the title, the job is really demanding and the pay is skewing slightly to above average ( senior position), but the company itself is slowly retracting their subsidy( no longer burning money lol) and sometimes under-delivering to the promised support for sellers, hence putting client-facing staffs in a pickle. this inconsistency and constant grind really takes a toll on my psyche, i am really overworked and overwhelmed. My cortisol level is at an all time high due to my stress level (daily campaign, monthly campaign, you know the drill of the ecommerce sphere), there is no rest, even on public holidays i still work ( as every metric is recorded live by the system, so when the numbers…
