I left a good job
The owners were good people but my coworkers were not. The only time I went to the bathroom, it seems, I just went to cry. I cried so much that I couldn't stop the night before nor the morning next. So I sent an email saying that I quit. I don't think its fair that I have to degrade my character for other people. They wouldn't train me even when i asked questions. It seemed as though they were super lazy, and pretty much used me to their advantage. It didn't seem like the problem could be fixed because they were working there for years and was never gonna change. Now I'm trying to find another one. But it hurts that even for people with degrees, its hard to find another job unless you have 10 years of experience, work for damn near free, and basically become the opposite of…

These people
I used to work at a National Office Supply store chain. A Depot of sorts. I had been having some major pain in my testes so I called out one day to go see my doctor about it. After doing an exam she determined that it could be cancerous and I needed to be examined by a specialist the following day. Needless to say it was the scariest moment of my life. I called my interim store manager and told her I needed the next day off as well. I was the head of the tech department but when I explained my problem she seemed bothered but told me to “do what you need to do” The day after the second exam I went back to work and the first thing she says to me is how tired she was that morning. I said I was also tired (since I…
My wife is a teacher
My wife is a teacher in the Missouri state school system. The county she works for is currently debating giving all the teachers in her district a “bonus” based on the economy. She makes ~38k per year, and is on a 6 year pay scale. Their rationale: Schools insurance is increasing 5%. Inflation numbers just hit 7.5%. Gas and food prices are up 30% or more. Their bonus offer: no annual pay raise (didn’t do one last year either), but instead you get a one time payment of 500 dollars. That’s hardly 1.5%. I told her to just quit. With minimum wage getting increased it would be easier for her to be an hourly worker. The stress would be lower, and she would work way less. Pay wouldn’t hardly change at all. Wtf is happening to this country.
