I was originally against this at the onset, especially during Covid, and felt there was a lot of unnecessary moaning from people/workers.
My company has been fair, compensates well, has stuck true to work from home/hybrid model and has continued with normal pay rises and bonuses etc. They haven’t had hiring freezes or anything like that.
HOWEVER, workloads have gone up and we do hire but just can’t keep people from leaving. It’s getting ridiculous and the more I observe, the more I do think to myself, what’s the point. There’s some very simple solutions upper management could take such as increasing pay even more so people stay and even retention bonuses but it’s not being done despite the very clear struggles with staffing. Now I wouldn’t mind if I’m talking about a mom and pop shop here but I work for a multi-billion dollar global financial organization……
Suffice to say, I’m in agreement with you all and I’m now very much about my come in, do my job, nothing extra and then go home thought process. Until things change, this employment situation is purely contractual and I’ll oblige by providing the service for the wages paid and nothing more.
