Changes to absence policy, no briefing, no warning, no information

My workplace (UK based, 6yrs+) has changed how they monitor unscheduled absence/sick leave. This came into effect Monday 12th Sept. Thing is, it seems very few people have been told. An old buddy on the colleague council says it was discussed by them, as well as by a committee of Sub-execs. I only found out about it through someone who'd been off for a couple of days and given a warning about reaching a “trigger point” (not a thing under the old system- Bradford if anyone's interested). Spoke to my supervisor about it, she confirmed it had come into effect this week but she has no idea how it works until her briefing NEXT MONTH. It's left me feeling pretty sour, like isn't this something which should be consulted and briefed out BEFORE it takes effect? It probably won't affect me a great deal, as I don't have any long…

It probably won't affect me a great deal, as I don't have any long term health conditions, but it feels like the thin end of the wedge. I won't expect future changes to be properly communicated in advance.

Rant over.
