So I am about 2.5 months away from my contract ending with my current employer. After some careful consideration I have decided that I will be looking for another opportunity before my contract expires, rather than renew. I am hoping to find a new opportunity sometime within the next 2.5 months. Obviously the timing will never match up the way I want it to, but I’ll plan as best I can.
My wife is a little over 6 months pregnant with our third child. Due in October. Which, if everything works out the way it should, would be right around the time I start a new job. How should I handle that conversation with my potential new organization, assuming I receive an offer before then? I’m a little nervous about accepting an offer and how that would be perceived immediately asking for paternity leave? I understand they are obligated in some fashion to grant me leave, but I want to start off on the right foot. Just curious if anyone has been in a similar dilemma.
