It doesn’t matter if you are a cashier or a fast food worker you should make a living wage. It also shouldn’t matter what age you are you should always be awarded a living wage. The thought that because you are young you should get paid less is the exact thinking that leads to a plethora of other issues.

Children would lower the standard pay for adults because at the end of the day a 14 year old could be a cashier & if it’s thought that it is morally correct to pay them less children can monopolize that work workforce & no company would hire an adult for that job unless they take a lower pay than living wage.

If the teen is getting hired for the job they are completing their tasks like any other adult would. Their lack of experience does not matter. You have a training period & then you are just as good as everyone else at that job. It doesn’t matter your age so they should make a living wage. Once you gain experience you should make above a living wage.

Children are unable to save up enough money to leave home when they turn 18 & can’t gain financial independence at the proper time.

If it’s thought that children should make less than living wage the benefit of having children becomes basically non existent because they will seem to forever be a financial burden on their parent due to their lack of ability to financially support themselves once they become a teen. It is thought poor people have more children because they can do more work for the family & increase the over all income but if everyone is failing to make enough to feed themselves then suddenly a teen/ young adult is just an extra mouth to feed & is a financial burden. The child also wouldn’t be able to save for college & would be unlikely to get a good paying job later in adulthood.

“Unskilled work” is not a real thing & if you need someone to complete the job it shouldn’t matter that a 14 year old can do it if you can’t pay a living wage then you are not entitled to their service.

If you wouldn’t sell your time for that price why should anyone else. We all have 24hr it’s in a day & limited time on this earth.
