Clocking out just to go get a croissant?

Our company has this service where a local bakery comes to our workplace and sells croissants, sandwiches and other snacks out of a small van so we can get some breakfast in the morning. The van stops in front of our main entrance, so we have to get up and go outside to grab something. My coworker just told me, that we're supposed to clock out when we go get something. And apparently there are people/bosses checking this?? I've never clocked out before to get my daily morning croissant (I never got in trouble so far) and I won't clock out in the future. It takes maybe 3 – 5 minutes. Just wtf? This is the first time I experienced this sort of corporate greed from my company. Our department is overworked as shit. We are a helpdesk of 4 people for close to 1100 colleagues in the whole country.…
