I work for a large coffee chain in the uk. They can't keep staff on at all. Case and point, myself who has given notice for the end of the week.
Today I'm the only barista in the shop and I'm working 9-5. There's supposed to be someone else here on shift with me, but I'm alone. I'm not even a manager! By law I'm entitled to a 20 min minimum break for 8 hours work. This coffee chain ONLY gives 20 mins and pays minimum wage to boot. Every other place I've worked atin my life has always given 30mins to an hour.
Since I've been working since 9am and it's now 3pm, I decided it fuck it. I've locked the door and stopped business. I'm taking my break. If they don't like the lost business they need to focus on keeping staff.
This Friday I finish this job for good. Fucking A.
