College educator required to teach 72 credit hours per year at for profit school.

So I was planning to leave the college I currently teach at within the next few months but I unexpectedly put my two weeks in today. They told me that to save money they are now requiring all full time faculty teach 72 credit hours per year. I had been doing 60 which already seemed like the maximum I could possibly maintain while delivering high quality courses. But this change to 72 almost feels vindictive. Like they want the full time faculty to quit. Which I did. Is this a sustainable amount for some educators and schools? Maybe it’s more common than I thought but I’m not going to teach 72 credit hours for 52k per year with advanced degrees and experience.
