Coming to Vent…

just a vent about everything. I used to be corporate and made a decent amount of money in the mortgage industry. The market tanked and so did my paycheck. I lost my health insurance, my apartment, and currently I’m flat broke. As you all know, everything hiring right now is so low pay it’s unliveable. Applied to 200+ positions, had about 3 interviews and currently working as a server in the meantime. When I started my serving job (2 weeks ago) I let them know I cannot work 2 days in the upcoming weeks. Of course the guy who interviewed me is out of town and they scheduled me.

Following my start date I hit something in the middle of the road with my car and had to call off because it was a Sunday and nothing was open to get my car fixed. My car was smoking and not driveable.

When I got last weeks schedule they scheduled me for a day I could not work. I called them and they said it was fine.

Today, I have a fever of 99.9 – not “fever status” but I’m dizzy and being around people I wanted to check in. I called my boss and asked him if he still wanted me to come in. He got upset with me and told me I’ve called off way too many times. Granted, this would only really be the 2nd time. He told me that I would need a doctors note when I came back in – I don’t have health insurance and I still haven’t received my first paycheck.

Overall, I’m going to head to work – even as terrible as I feel – but the system is DESIGNED to keep you down, man. I can’t afford anything and am late with payments with so much.

I’m working as much as I can but our tips are pooled and won’t be receiving a paycheck for 3 weeks from my start date. This company also requires a uniform which I can’t afford either until my first paycheck.

It’s all super fucked up. I’m just here to vent. I have 2 degrees, have always been an excellent worker and because my original career choice has gone downhill I am just constantly getting fucked.

What the hell do we do? We cannot all keep living like this. Treated like shit but down too bad to be able to do anything.

Fuck capitalism, Man.
