Companies Really Don’t Care About Employees

So Reddit Family I need to get popular opinion on something. I joined the great resignation and left my job of 4 years late last year after I was passed up on a promotion I thought I deserved. I ended up getting poached by a recruiter to work at another company making nearly $70K more. Unfortunately I despised the work and reached out to my previous employer asking about returning and letting them know that clearly my market value showed that I was worth more than what they were paying me when I initially left. They said they would be happy to bring me back but without a promotion and with a $2k bump from my previous salary (meaning a $68k pay cut from the new job) I was literally offended by the offer and in fact was confused with how they thought I'd ever be willing to accept it.…

Needless to say I'm not going back. What do you guys think? Is this something other people would take offense to or is this just business.
