Companies should always send out emails first before calling people for an interview

A company just called me for an interview from a number I've never seen before (also the number came in as a spam risk) and at the same time I see an email from Indeed about that same company that ” Unfortunately, 'X Company' has decided not to move forward with your 'Position' application at this time.” Call was at 4:00pm on a Friday and email was 4:00PM on a Friday. I hate that companies are even allowed to do this and not email first to set up a time for an interview. I want a paper trail when I talk to a company, not some random call from a random number at any possible time.
