Anyone notice that a lot of companies seem to dislike employees who have no desire to promote? Money isn't everything for me and I value my free time. I have no desire to work in a job position that takes up more of my time, gives me more stress, and more responsibilities just for a relatively small pay raise. As long as I make enough to get by and have a little spare cash for hobbies I'm fine.
Even if I get 50% more pay it's still a shitty deal if I have to work more hours and have double the responsibilities. But managers can get outright angry at you for refusing to take the offer. I feel like the only reason they can get away with this shit is because people with families don't really have the option to turn down the extra money.
I want at LEAST double the pay guaranteed (not through commission or possible bonuses) if you want to double my responsibilities.
