Company A wants me to already submit my requirements. I asked for a written offer, they said requirements first. So I went, and they got my requirements. But then, they got me fitted for uniform and wants me to sign my contract on my first day of work next week. Is this normal?

So I went to Company A and submitted my requirements (police clearance, ID) because they said I need to pass requirements first before getting an offer in writing.

Aside from that they actually also fitted me for the uniform and wanted me to do the drug test. And then they told me orientation would be on Thursday. I didn’t know all this was gonna happen today?

I asked, when do I sign a contract? And they said I will sign on my first day. At this point I was a bit too shocked/confused because this is not the process in my home country.

I expected, after passing the interview, to get the offer in writing so I can consider it, and then sign it when I agree with it.

Is this weird??? Am I just dumb for not understanding this was what I should’ve expected?

Mostly I’m bummed because I still have a final interview with Company B tomorrow.
