Antiwork

Company did another round of layoffs and putting more workload and responsibilities on me for same pay. Dreading going to work tomorrow and all I can think about all weekend.

I work as a mortgage processor and have been with the company almost 2 years. I got hired when rates were at record lows, and business was booming. Since then it's slowed down, and they have done 5 big layoffs over the last 6 months with no notice to those they fired. Now with this recent layoff, they completely eliminated certain job roles that we used to have like a condo processing team, insurance review teams that they want processors to start doing on files with no extra pay. On top of that files processors they just let go were split up among the rest of us, and it's just so much work it's been stressing me out. Now with this recent layoff, they completely eliminated certain job roles that we used to have like a condo processing team, insurance review teams that they want processors to start doing on files with no extra pay. On top of that files processors they just let go were split up among the rest of us, and it's just so much work it's been stressing me out. I got so many dumpster files of nightmare loans that I just don't want to deal with. I hate they just lay off a bunch of people and want those who they kept to clean up the mess with no compensation. We also didn't get annual raises last year at all. I have a good savings, and could afford to not work for several months, and I just don't know if I want to leave without notice. I also have over a week of sick time that wouldn't be paid out if I just left. I almost want to make some excuse that I need to be out sick all next week and see if it's better when I get back, but I know it won't be. I feel like it's pretty unethical to just make some excuse that I can't work all week to use my sick time, and then leave. But I know this company doesn't care about me, and I could have just as easily been one of the people laid off. Each time we have a meeting about a reduction in work force they say it's the last time, and I'm not joking this has been the 5th one in the last 6 months. Should I care about taking advantage of my sick time and then bailing? The whole situation has just been stressful, and wanted to get some other people's thoughts. It just feels like us processors still here are being taken advantage of. I liked the job up until last week when they just threw so much bullshit my way, and told us we would be taking on extra responsibility with no extra compensation.
