Company doesn’t handle promotions like anyone else in the industry.

I’ve just been promoted to a role that engineers usually don’t reach until 3 years into the company while I’ve only been there one year. I’ve been described by the manager as his “right hand guy” and am the lead engineer in the group while also being the youngest and have been with the company the least amount of time. I’ve just been promoted to a role that engineers usually don’t reach until 3 years into the company while I’ve only been there one year. In return I received a raise at the beginning of the year under the average raise amount of other engineers in my position at the company (I don’t know why but they told me this kind of proudly). The raise was well below inflation. In the conversation I had about my promotion the manager said that they know that this is not how any other company in the industry handles promotions, but that I wouldn’t be receiving a raise with the promotion and would instead be given raises over the next three years to bring me up to the same level as other engineers at my title (as if with inflation and their raise cap I would ever catch up). Then they’re disappointed and surprised when people quit as if it isn’t a well known factor that the multi billion dollar company has 20% employee turnover. It’s like they enjoy pushing people out. Sorry, just needed to rant.
