Quick summary of the events.
I work at a company that hired me as a remote worker.
Recently, I had to take an unexpectedly medical leave due to a surgery. I was out for about 1 month. When attempting to start working again, I was notified that now I had to go into the office (hard for me to do since I live very far away and they know this). I got a doctor's note so I can remain remote during my recovery, the note was accepted. However, on my first day I received a written warning based on performance.
There was no prior verbal warning or anything. (Which is the first step according to our employee handbook)
Also, I have now been assigned to do busy work instead of my regular work and they continue to remind me that I will need to report to the office once my Dr clears me out.
At this point it just feels like they are trying to push me out. Does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions?
Should I take some sort of legal action?
PS- I did not sign any documents and actually sent in a response to the warning with supporting documents. I am also making sure all communication is noted in writing.
