company lets us WFH, so I do as little as possible

The days I work from home are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday – which at first they didn’t want anyone to WFH on but there was lots of backlash. So the office is pretty much a ghost town on Fridays. I do as little work as possible. I’m a senior software developer and happen to be the only one with any knowledge of a particular application. I’ve been working at the company for 18 years, through different sections of the IT department. I know for the most part what they monitor. Things here are pretty fucking lax at least compared to some of the shit I’ve seen on this subreddit. So since I’m the only guy who knows anything about this app, I use it to my advantage by over-complicating simple feature requests, overestimating the amount of hours needed, and just blowing it a little out of proportion. I get the request finished really quickly (worst was full 8 hours). Typically mondays are just sprint planning so Tuesdays I spend just working and looking real busy even though I technically am. For the next 3 days after that, I’m at home. I’m playing video games or watching YouTube. Errands around the house, working out, walking the dog, getting groceries, doctor appts, grabbing lunch with a friend – anything but working. I’ll go out late on some those nights and sleep in until just before our daily stand ups. I love it. And at the same time I want to see capitalism burn. Why? Because this company is thriving. Every year we have record profits. I did things right and worked hard at first. But I wasn’t seeing much of the money that we kept making. Even though I’m still getting great feedback on my yearly reviews and constantly told I’m doing great. But money talks louder than all that. I do make a living wage, so I have a comfortable living situation (yes I’m aware of my privilege). It’s the reason why I don’t look for something else. I don’t aspire to work. At the same time they’re going to get the hours they pay for. Gimme more money if you want me to do more work.
