But I recently decided I needed a change, so started looking round for vacancies. Got two offers:
1.) one from a travel insurance provider doing sales (sounds grim, but it's the one I took, they seem like the lesser of two evils)
…and one from Sensée.
These fuckers offered me the job and told me:
– That as it's a work from home position, I would need to buy my OWN equipment – two 23″ monitors, a unit with at least 8GB of RAM, keyboard, mouse and headset.
– I would need to pay for my OWN DBS check priced at around £25.
– I, instead of providing references, will need to supply five years worth of BANK STATEMENTS to verify my “activity history” as they call it.
I sent the below email to the recruitment lady:
” Just as a point of feedback, I’d have stayed with this company if the process wasn’t as stressful. Never ever been asked to provide bank statements across five years, pay for my own DBS and equipment just to secure a job. During a cost of living crisis this is disrespectful and didn’t give me a good impression of the company.”
Oh, and the cherry on the cake – if you go on Glassdoor, people have left negative reviews complaining, rightfully, about needing to spend a lot of money on their equipment. The company have ACTUALLY RESPONDED DEFENSIVELY completely mocking people for saying that and trying to cast doubt on how much they're saying they've spent. I cba to screenshot but go check.
Mind you, this is a heavy hitting company, whose agents work on behalf of big companies like Vodaphone. Disgraceful.
