The company I just started at has the following listed in their company policy. It does NOT require an employee signature. I'm in North Dakota and wondering about the legality.
HONESTY POLICY
Discussion of…wages to others, except the owner, are grounds for dismissal and possible prosecution of a legal matter. We reserve the right to search any personal property or vehicles brought onto the premises when questions of theft, drinking, or drugs are suspected.
Isn't dismissal for discussing wages illegal? Wouldn't the company need police involvement and a warrant to search someone's vehicle? If someone could clarify and point me to any legal documentation on this, it would be appreciated!
