Complaining about working in child care

I make $16 an hour (bellow industry standers where I live) to work split shift at an before/after school day care. I really needed a job at the time so I took it but am still astonished at how much the pay is. I’m just an assistant so I don’t do much paperwork but run the centres during open hours. Usually looking after 15-25 kids. I would consider this a very inconvenient job as I’m often put at different centres around the town and have to help run them with kids I’ve never even met. We also stop getting paid once all the kids get picked up even if we’re supposed to be able to work till later. I personally think we should be paid on salary. They also have recruiting “prizes” and ask for us to be there 15 minutes before bell time but won’t pay us for that…

Anyways, and they wonder why they have staff shortages.
