Complaint retaliation? Unsure

I(20F) just started a new job today and I saw a past coworker(22M) who I used to work with. I worked with this guy very closely and he got fired for sexual harassment(towards me and others) and also violent behavior such as hitting walls. I told my boss what had happened and how I’m not comfortable working with him. He thanked me for telling him, helped me leave through the back where he wouldn’t see me, and told me he would switch his shift so I wouldn’t have to work with him. I know this happened because one of them contacted me about it. I would understand if he went to my previous employer where him & I worked together/where he got fired from. I am however, extremely offended that after unveiling something so personal my boss decides to call ALL my references asking about me. Should I be offended? What should I do?

EDIT: typo
