I'm a new intern at the company and get paid minimum wage. We're expected to attend a compulsory team lunch at a 5 star restaurant where we pay for ourselves (at least $70+ and chip in for our bosses meal. He gets paid at least 10x my salary.
I'm barely surviving with the increasing rent, bills, gas, electricity, grocery costs etc.
I made myself look as poor as possible (no shame idc what people think of me) so they would stop inviting me to these, and hopefully that hints at an eventual pay rise.
It's annoying how boomers are so out of touch with reality….
Yeah sure I can attend these and pay, but are you going to pay my rent?
