Confused Supporter?

I have been lurking on this sub a long minute now. I jive with the ideals and people knowing the value of their time and worth. What I don't understand is people not being able to afford rent, groceries, retirement. I am in the union trades and they keep us “competitive” and offer health insurance and retirement. We regularly negotiate to ensure they keep offering us these things along with other working conditions. I saw a post about Millennials not being able to do 50-30-20 and realized I couldn't relate because that is doable as a journeyman. Maybe it was never presented as an option? Maybe you are fighting for better conditions in your present employment? Maybe you didn't know you could do it with a HS diploma? I know that know one told me it was a career with a respectable wage for a women when I was in…

I understand, because everyone should have a good place to work and a living wage, but I am confused because there are viable options in the interim.
