Connections in the workplace should not allow useless people to keep their job

I work in one of the most prestigious stores in the world (based in UK), in the warehouse. There is this guy who has no idea what he's doing… makes mistakes left, right and center, leaves rubbish all over the place and is just generally lazy. Despite this, he recently passed his 3 month probation anyway. Why, you may ask? Because his mommy is friends with one of the directors and the director said it doesn't matter how useless he is, he is not to be fired. Now I don't know why this director protects him so much but that's beside the point. And now because he takes the spot as a permanent member of staff, another worker through the agency that is 1000x better than him can't become permanent because there's no more permanent places vacant.
