Consequences of WFH ?

I just finished a 6 month co-op assignment at a fortune 50 company. When I first started, the company was in a “code red”, this means that the company was sending people home because there was an uptick in Covid cases. However, once the company switched back to “code green” I was never informed nor was the expectation for me to come into the office a few times a week clearly communicated to me, so I continued to work remotely. I preferred to work remotely because it allowed me to focus on my college courses as well. My turn-around time for work was about 2-3 days and I got excellent marks on every single one of my classes.

Once co-ops/interns complete their assignments they are eligible to be referred to a special development program. Every time I would follow up with my manager about my recommendation she would give a very vague reply or if I messaged her about it she would not reply at all. All while continuing to interact with me like she enjoyed me being a part of the team and she was happy with my contributions. I eventually started to show up to the office after my classes ended but I don't think it was enough to salvage the situation.

After talking with some of my colleagues, I was told interns/co-ops are expected to show up to the office a couple times a week and they proceeded to gaslight me about WFH even though my mangers never explicitly told me I had to come in. So, now I feel as if my manager is holding my choice to WFH against me. However, I am more bothered by her lack of transparency about weather she is going to recommend me or not. I would rather just be told to my face that I am not being recommended instead of feel like I am being ghosted.

Sorry for the long post I just needed somewhere to rant
