TLDR: Job wont let me work from home, while others do. Thinking about threatening to quit if they don't let me. They'll be fucked, but I'm doubtfull on how to approach this. Any tips?
I work a very basic desk job, at which I currently work fulltime in the office (aka not from home). At first, they told me home work would not be possible due to the fact I'd need a lot of training, which I fully agreed with. (technically this could also be done from home, but I see how it's more practical in the office) I also mentioned during my interview that I prefer work in the office, as I'm a very social person and thrive on the interactions with colleagues. And I still stand by that statement.
After two months on the job, I was fully trained and had even already been explaning shit to my colleagues who worked here longer than me. So I decided to ask, very kindly, if it would be possible to work from home on mondays. Specifically mondays because I typically have an appointment in the hospital an mondays which is close to my home, so that would be alot more convenient. Also I have piano lessons on monday, so I'd like the chance to do some extra practice during my lunch break.
However I received a no, with the reasoning that they prefer to not have temps (which I am) work from home. Although not happy with the response, I respected it and let it go. Until.. Two weeks later another temp begins here, cool guy, no issues with him personally. after ONE week, he started working from home twice a week. Understandably, I'm not very happy. Still in a very kind matter, I went to my boss with the question to work mondays from home, pointing to this temp thing.
No again.
Today, which was the last drop for me, it was announced that come July, everybody will have to return to the office more often, but still be allowed to work two days from home. And yes, you guessed it, not me.
I'm now considering to go to my boss and tell her that I'm done asking nicely, and now instead of asking just one day. I will demand the 2 that the rest will be granted. And then tell her diplomatically that there's a lot of open jobs for me. I can leave with basically zero notice because I'm a temp, and excuse my french but they will be FUCKED if I do.
I'm just scared it will affect my good relations with the temp office who have given me a plethora of work and all very professionally and correct. Should I do this? Any tips on how to approach this perhaps?
