Constant scheduling issues.

So, I began working for this company about a month ago. My first mistake was putting myself on available I their scheduling system for pretty much until mid-october, indicating I am able to work. For context: I work security on different locations. Now – queue the issues: It feels like they don't look or care how they schedule people. I had a 12 hour shift as well today, which after an hour of being on location was mentioned by the person who ordered (other company) us to be there it got cancelled. Scheduling knew, but forgot to relay it properly. Time and gas wastes…

Am I missing something about how it all works now with all the shortages in staffing?

Sorry, bit of a vent..
