Worked at a research associate position in biotech, just me working under a senior scientist who was initially ecstatic to hire me. ADHD traits start getting in the way, I started adapting over time but I guess it wasn't fast enough for her. We'd talked about these troubles and identified ways to work on it, I was told she would speak with my contracting company and would give them an update in another 6 weeks to see if there's been improvement. This week was ridiculously good, I learned a lot and made a lot of movement on almost every task I'd been given and implemented automated systems to assist us. She'd been stuck in interviews and meetings all week so I never got the chance to update her on the progress I was making.
Went home for a bit yesterday (a short break from the office while an experiment was running in a machine) when I got the news from my contracting company that my contract was terminated, effective immediately.
Craziest part is that the listing for my replacement was forwarded to me on Indeed this morning.
