Hey all! I need advice or feedback if I’m being too sensitive or reading too much into the situation.
Overall, I like my manager. But she has micromanager tendencies sometimes and totally talks over people on calls. I’m not sure if it’s always intentional but yesterday really pissed me off.
I was on a group call (manager as well) and towards the end—a team lead asked me to stay on as he had a question for me. Literally said “X, can you stay on? Got a quick question for YOU”
Mind you—I had no idea if this was work related or if he wanted to ask me my favorite ice cream flavor. You get it.
Regardless everyone else jumped off as expected BUT MY MANAGER STAYED ON.
Y’all! WTF! I don’t know why but that really set me off. It was rude and not her place. Why is she hovering?! Does she not trust me? At that point I considered the convo none of her business and was shocked she remained on.
The best part? It was a simple question and I 100% could handle it just fine without my fearless manager breathing down my neck.
