Conversation with an old boomer friend.

Got her to admit she thinks housing and food aren’t human rights and she would prefer house less people received no assistance. So I walked her into it, “so you think poor people should just die?” She did not say “no” Woman spent 20 minutes complaining about the rising prices of everything but couldn’t have any empathy for other people suffering or recognize that she is also being taken advantage of in capitalism. She also said my generation hasn’t experienced real work, after I described my working conditions, the long hours, the verbal abuse and how I was wrongfully fired because I challenged my boss’ ego and expressed boundaries about my schedule. I didn’t experience real work, being on my feet 40 hours a week, heavy lifting, no breaks. Fucking invalidating. This woman’s mother is 102 years old and she claimed her mother’s generation was the last to actually struggle.…

This woman’s mother is 102 years old and she claimed her mother’s generation was the last to actually struggle. Lady your mom was of age in the Great Depression which is exactly the conditions we’re living in now. The cognitive dissonance is incredible.
