Corporate is a killer

Hey all, thought if I was going to rant somewhere about how painful a corporate job for a 19-year-old is it would be here! I've been working in corporate legal recoveries for 8-9 months as a paralegal. If you don't know what recoveries is, it's the legal side of debt collection. That means sending people to court over debts, stopping people from selling their homes until they pay up and sending bailiffs round. As paralegals we do all the admin dirty work and have to talk with the “debtors” over the phone. Yes, this sort of work takes a toll on your heart and goes against basic human morals. I hate it. I don't really have many other options due to a general lack of jobs where I live. 9-5 with the added stress of a phone ringing, without knowing what the person on the other side will be like,…

Yes, this sort of work takes a toll on your heart and goes against basic human morals. I hate it. I don't really have many other options due to a general lack of jobs where I live.

9-5 with the added stress of a phone ringing, without knowing what the person on the other side will be like, is extremely stressful. That's without the side of high workloads and being paid less than £8 an hour (that is less than $9.5 for any Americans). This is also a fair amount less than my older colleagues get paid, even those who have less experience and training than me and have only just joined.

Honestly, if anything pushes me more and more towards being against the current working expectations in this country and the world it's this job.

Kinda hope people can relate :')
