Could I just take a high paying remote job and do nothing? Have any of y’all done that?

I currently work in tech consulting, mostly remote (I go into the office about once a week but it’s not required). I was offered this job in summer of 2020, when it was a miracle to even get a job offer right out of college. I LOVE my company culture/people, it’s a relaxed environment, but the work is eh, and so is the pay. I’ve always known I wouldn’t be passionate about any job or career, so if I’ll feel this way about any position I take, why not go for a higher paying remote job? I know that I’m not making as much as I should be for someone at my level in comparable firms. In a pre-Covid-labor-shortage world this wouldn’t bother me. But it does. My best friend works in big 4 consulting and told me it’s virtually impossible to get fired there & at other companies of…

My best friend works in big 4 consulting and told me it’s virtually impossible to get fired there & at other companies of that size due to the paperwork/bureaucracy that goes into it. Eventually after a year of bad performance reviews, they’ll just approach you with a sum of money in exchange for you quitting. My question is: could I do this with a higher paying remote tech job? Just collect a pay check and do nothing? Has anyone had personal experience with this? I brought this idea up to the same best friend who then suggested meta, they’re hiring remote like crazy right now. I’d have to deal with people disliking me but I’d get used to that. I don’t want to work for meta at all, they’re the worst. But if I could just take their money without having to give my labor that would be pretty great. Is this possible or just a fantasy?
