Basically I got hired to work with the government, and they asked for employment history. I listed all the jobs in the past 5 years I’ve held and they needed specific dates. When I tried putting the dates they wouldn’t let me leave any dates unworked/unemployed. So some jobs I either stretched the date a bit to cover, and others I simply couldn’t remember (5 years is a long time).
I just got a call from an employer I had in 2020 who wanted to double check that the email they received wasn’t spam. He said “don’t worry we’ll give you a good review”. (Luckily with them I did do a pretty good job and I think only called out twice in four months). However I didn’t know they’d use the employment history as a reference. They never asked if they could contact them or not, and there was a section asking about if I ever been fired/resigned and I listed the two that I had and now I’m worried.
How concerned should I be with this? How likely are the other employers to answer? And could I lose my job (I’ve been training for one week and everything is going extremely well) if there’s a negative reference? 🙁
I’m scared, I love my current job…
