Country club job doing illegal shit

This is about a job I have already quit but pissed me off so much I wanna rant about it still and everyone I know is sick of hearing about it lol. I worked only 3 weeks because it was so bad. I was hired at my interview which should have been a red flag, but here are some of the things they did that made me leave. 1) I signed up for full time with open availability. They took that to mean MINIMUM 40 hours a week and when I said I wanted less hours they told me I already signed up for full time. 2) I was a server for the main dining room and weddings. As a server in the main room I typically worked 9 hours. Weddings it would often go to 11 fucking hours. 3) it was heavily implied in my interview that when working…

3) it was heavily implied in my interview that when working weddings we would be getting tips from the families on top of our 15$/hour wage. Out of about 10 weddings, I got tipped one time.

4)they never stated in the interview that for 2 hours after every wedding we would have to manually move every. Single. Table. Over and over again till we had the configurations right to what the managers wanted after working 9hours carrying heavy trays

5) there was no limit to how many guests there could be. Multiple times there would be 300+ guests for a wedding with only 4 servers. It was miserable

6) I don’t know how to bartend and they would frequently leave me without a bartender. I couldn’t close the bar. I just had to constantly apologize and scramble around the building looking for anyone I knew could make drinks

Now the illegal and possibly illegal stuff

1) they encouraged me to just make the drinks even though I’m not certified or trained (rule in my state)

2) I saw bartenders constantly marrying bottles (combining half empty liquor and wine bottles) which is a huge no no in the industry. I’ve never worked at a restaurant that would do that. The managers knew

3) on every bill was a “service charge” that was 20%. That was not given to servers. It wasn’t given to the kitchen. I do not know where it went. I made 10% commissions and the other 10% went to the fucking ether. The guests were never told that doesn’t go to us so they never tipped or tipped very little. One of the servers asked where the money went and the manger said it wasn’t to club costs. Y’all the club dues on this place were in the 10s of thousands and there was more members than I could count. They did not need that money.

Also I was wasn’t allowed to park in the parking lot I had to park across the street and go in through a back door so the rich people didn’t have to see “the help”. That wasn’t illegal it just made me mad
Ok rant over
