coworker being forced out of job because she has to WFH

I don't even know where to begin to point her to see if there's any action she can take. We live in Indiana, the quarantine year helped her out since she could take care of her mother and WFH. Her mother's gotten worse and needs more constant care, but she can still confidently put in an 8 hr day. She even got greenlit to stay WFH. Our company founder even said that he wants to keep a hybrid office, but that apparently doesn't matter to our manager who has given her the ultimatum to return in by friday or else 'she'll be considered to have resigned' He said 'we've changed the function of this job enough that you must be in the office' So its nice to know the company founder was full of shit. Big surprise eh? Now I already told her, do not sign anything that they give…

Now I already told her, do not sign anything that they give you, make them fire you, but I'm not sure in a 'right to get exploited(work)' state, she's got any legal recourse to this firing. Can someone give me a pointer or two as to where she needs to look if there is anything?
