Antiwork

Coworker was telling my ex my work schedule. I walk out. Get harassed by head tech weeks later.

This happened nearly a year ago but was still so crazy to experience- I worked at a vet clinic for a few months. At first it was great and then it started to become pretty toxic. But that wasn’t why I left. At first, my abusive ex was trying to sabotage me by calling the clinic and telling them I should be fired because I “could” access his information about his animals and use that against him. (I wouldn’t ever do that in the first place) Late, I found out from my son, that my ex husbands new wife had been bragging about how she “had a friend” that worked with me, who was telling her my work schedule and everything I do at work. I asked my son if she had mentioned this “friends” name and sure enough, it was the name of one of the techs who worked…

This happened nearly a year ago but was still so crazy to experience-

I worked at a vet clinic for a few months. At first it was great and then it started to become pretty toxic. But that wasn’t why I left.
At first, my abusive ex was trying to sabotage me by calling the clinic and telling them I should be fired because I “could” access his information about his animals and use that against him. (I wouldn’t ever do that in the first place)
Late, I found out from my son, that my ex husbands new wife had been bragging about how she “had a friend” that worked with me, who was telling her my work schedule and everything I do at work. I asked my son if she had mentioned this “friends” name and sure enough, it was the name of one of the techs who worked with me.
I confronted the tech and she admitted she was doing it, but “to keep my ex away when I was working”.
Except for the next several weeks, either him or his wife scheduled appointments during the days I was working.
I went to the head tech about it (we had no office manager) but she brushed it off as “oh that person wouldn’t do that”. Even though they had admitted to me, and a few other coworkers that they had been relaying that private information.
I was so angry. I spoke to a few friends who said that sort of thing would be grounds for termination at a place like McDonalds, so it was wild that my clinic didn’t take it seriously at all.
I ended up quitting and walking out a few weeks after bringing the issue up to the head tech, after I showed up to a shift and my ex was the first on the schedule. I no longer felt safe working there. The head tech then said me saying I didn’t feel safe there said more about me than them!
Three whole weeks later, I get a random text from the head tech, with a screenshot of my profile pic, which was my with a Persian kitten from a local breeder, who I KNEW PERSONALLY.
The tech demanded to know if I had permission to take those photos.
The breeder had taken the photo herself and said she had no problem with me posting it online, because it gives her good advertisement to have her kittens shown being seen by vet professionals.
At this point I was done being polite and told her I always asked permission and to not contact me again, then blocked her number and most of the staff on Facebook.
I had some friends suggest I should see if there was some legal aspect to the situation they violated, but my state is an at will state so there’s no much I could of done there.
What’s funny is I see that the same clinic is constantly trying to hire new people, which means their turnover is even higher than before I left.
