Crazy concept: Jobs that hire you should have you work the position you applied for.

I know, this is such an insane request I can’t even fathom typing it out. But seriously, why the fuck do jobs hire you for one thing, then immediately turn around and throw you on shit you didn’t apply for. My personal experience: I just got a job at Best Buy for a steady job and cash while I go back to college. I applied for a Sales Advisor position (someone who’s on the floor helping people with questions and recommending products based of their needs.) and the first week of actual training was great. After my first initial week of floor training, I’ve been on Front End (cash register and customer support) for the last week, and upcoming 2 weeks, with only 3 days in my actual position I was hired for. I’m a team player, I don’t mind learning this stuff in case I need to cover someone…

I’m a team player, I don’t mind learning this stuff in case I need to cover someone or they’re busy, I get it. But as of now, I’ve learned almost the entire front end of the store, and almost nothing about my actual position.

Obviously I’m going to question them about it and be blunt that this isn’t what I applied for. If it’s only for training purposes, fair enough it’s good to have people trained on various things. If they’re trying to just fill me in wherever they want, absolutely not. I applied to interact with people and come up with solutions based on their needs, not a mindless item scanner standing in 1 place all day.
